So I’ve been trying to think of a good way to add storage to the entranceway of the house that can double as a mail center/drop stuff area for my roommates and I. The kicker is that I pretty much have a max of 12 inches to work with, due to the door.
After browsing for console tables, bookcases, and all sorts of things, I think I’ve hit upon a solution! This Billy shelf from Ikea. It’s 11 inches wide, and I’ll hang it low, so the top can double as a drop zone. I’ll probably hang it high enough that I could fit a Billy bookcase under it in the future, if I feel like I need more shelves (at this point I don’t think I do). For now, there will be room underneath to stash rain boots and things. Pretty psyched about this :)

This quote really struck me!
The entire list of responses to the original question is pretty good… some nice general pointers about general human interaction in between all the spousal stuff ;) Good for me, since sometimes I have moments where I feel like I simply fail at human interaction, heh.

At least in the case of my college, this is why we left the radiator on all the time, and cracked a window. How open the window was determined the final temperature of the room :)
